Scripture First
Start with what the text actually says, rather than forcing Scripture to serve an argument already formed.
I am a writer and researcher committed to studying Scripture and to presenting God’s Word correctly—not to win arguments, but to try to be faithful to the message while navigating a complex and challenging world.
I write because Scripture deserves careful attention, and because faithful Christian thinking has to meet the real world rather than retreat from it.
I want to examine difficult questions without pretending they are simpler than they are. That means reading carefully, researching honestly, and remaining willing to test my own assumptions.
Start with what the text actually says, rather than forcing Scripture to serve an argument already formed.
Research claims carefully, distinguish evidence from interpretation, and acknowledge uncertainty where it exists.
Faith is lived in bodies, families, workplaces, economies, technologies and cultures. Those realities deserve honest attention.
The aim is not to win every argument. It is to keep learning, keep testing assumptions, and try to be faithful to the message entrusted to us.
The goal is not to have the last word, but to be faithful to the Word.
Lathi Mateta exists in the space between Scripture and the world we actually inhabit: a place to study carefully, think honestly and ask what faithful living looks like when the answers are not always simple.
